Interactivity and online learning

Over the past year much of our face to face training and courses have moved online with participants joining our sessions from across the UK and beyond. We have developed strategies for using both MSTeams and Zoom to create interactive learning experiences with the use of breakout rooms, polls, quizzes and video content.

One of our favourite tools for online engagement is the HOTS Simulation sourced from our good friends at the Total Simulation Company. HOTS is an online hotel business simulation which encourages experiential learning in a financially safe and fun environment. Teams of managers takeover the running of their hotels - with eight teams in total all competing against each other to maximise the financial and non financial results whilst creating a sustainable business. Perfect for both in the classroom and online training this versatile tool is ideal for providing creative interactive experiences in a safe environment.

HOTS is ideal for those at Head of Department or senior management level seeking to gain a better understanding of strategic decision-making in a familiar hotel environment and the subsequent impact of those decisions on financial performance.

The game can also be used as a:

  • teaching aid in universities and colleges for developing knowledge of hotel businesses particularly financial reporting and revenue management
  • team building activity with middle to senior managers
  • learning tool for hospitality students seeking to learn more about managing a hotel business operation and the interpretation of financial information

The team at arena4finance is highly experienced in delivering the simulation for both full time students and for developing managers. Why not give us a call to discuss.

'We are delighted that HOTS courses are now being offered by arena4finance - the team have developed some exciting course material to support the simulation and together we have developed the Passion 4 Hospitality Business Game for the Institute of Hospitality.”
