Once again arena4finance is delighted to sponsor the Passion 4 Hospitality Business Game to be held in London on 14th March 2016, at the annual student networking event and competition created and organised by the Institute of Hospitality.

Passion 4 Hospitality 2016 will consist of a careers forum, speed networking, the ever-popular Debating Competition as well as the Business Game Competition in which teams compete to manage a virtual hotel.

The Business Game Competition is based on the HOTS Business Simulation where teams compete to run a 125 bedroom hotel aiming to maximise Revenue per Available Room (REVPAR) and Gross Operating Profit (GOP).

As in previous years the competition is open to both students studying on hospitality programmes and industry professionals. Participants must be individual members of the Institute of Hospitality or, if you are a student, must be studying at an educational institution that is registered with the Institute of Hospitality’s Education Membership Scheme. The deadline for entries is 7 December 2015.

Working in partnership with arena4|finance and HOTS, the Business Game Competition Final will take place alongside the Debating Competition Final on 14th March 2016.

HOTS stands for Hotel, Operations, Tactics and Strategy and is a web-based business management simulation that challenges participants to manage a large hotel during a series of online heats, culminating in the final.

Arena4finance offer a range of courses using the HOTS simulation for both industry participants and for universities and colleges. Our experienced educators have successfully tailored the courses to meet the learning outcomes on finance and revenue management modules on undergraduate degree programmes in hospitality. The simulation enables participants to have the opportunity to:

  • Identify the current problems in the hotel and devise strategies to tackle them
  • Develop and implement a business plan to achieve the targets set for the hotel
  • Set policies and allocate resources on a monthly basis to ensure that the hotel’s targets and goals are met
  • React appropriately to events in the market place

Extensive market research, as well as sales and financial reports passed on by the previous management, are available within the simulation to help participants in their decision-making and to provide an idea of the patterns of trade the hotel has recently experienced.
